Common name ~ Brass Buttons. Brass Buttons are low, carpeting perennials that are perfect for planting along the edge of pathways, or using in between flagstones. This newer selection features feathery foliage of an unusual bronzy-black shade, bearing insignificant green flowers during the summer. Easily divided by digging up the clump and ripping into smaller pieces in spring or early fall. Evergreen. Sun to part shade. Zones 5-9. 4" pot size.

Nearly jet-black leaves, and a tidy, clumping habit, making it a most unique specimen for edging. Short spikes of pale-pink flowers are followed by black berries in the fall. This is a slow plant to establish, so give it time. For best effect, contrast this with yellow or grey-foliaged plants. We have ours planted in our Black & Chartreuse Garden with the brilliant colored Sedum 'Angelina'. Prefers a sheltered, partially shaded position. In cold winter regions a light winter mulch of evergreen boughs is recommended. Evergreen (everblack actually...). 4"-6" high. Sun to part shade, Zones 6-9. 4" pot.
